London Time: 10.10am
Was too lazy to blog yesterday... haha.
Wow. Its close to the end of the third week I'm here. Guessing i'm left with 3 more months? Its quite fast actually. ;p
There's gonna be a ton of photos here. I took around 100 photos yesterday.
Had Subway for lunch yesterday and for dinner had grilled beef with courgettes and bread. Courgettes are basically something that looks like cucumbers? But aren't exactly it. You've got to simmer it in the pot till it becomes soft before you can eat it.
And the dinner the day before was courgettes with eggs and bread.
Yesterday morning woke up at around 7am, had breakfast, and left the house at around 8am. Took the bus 44 to the City Center(paying 3.30pounds for a day pass) where I asked around for the Red Arrow bus stop. Its where I can take the bus to Nottingham. It was not far from where I dropped off though. When I got up, I bought a return ticket for 5 pounds. The bus was different from the buses I used to take. Its more of like a coach that you take in Singapore to go to Malaysia. You know the kinda with the really comfortable seats.
So the bus ride took around half and hour to reach Nottingham. The view along the journey was beautiful... Wide open grass plains with horse ranches, little cottages and stuff like that. Really beautiful. Plus the weather was really nice.
I dropped off 2 stops before Victoria bus terminal. The place was... Wow. Shopper's paradise. Shops EVERYWHERE. But it was quite early.. around 9am? So most of the shopping centers aren't open. But the street shops were all open. Amazing. There was this trams that operated around the city. They were powered by cables overhead. Its a pretty cool sight to see long-ass trains on the road.
See the groves on the road? Those are the tram tracks.
That's one of the shopping centers there. But is not open this early in the day.
This is actually their open air market. Really interesting stuff they got in there.
I think these are made from wood by hand. Looked so damn real... a flock of sheeps.. bahhhh...
I proceeded to the information center and took alot of brocheurs. And got a map of Nottingham city. Apparently, Nottingham is called Nottinghamshire. And the City is called Nottingham City Center. Its the same as with Derby. Derby is called Derbyshire, and the city is called Derby City Center. Weird right? Yea. I know.
This is basically one of their many churches in the area. I can't remember what's it called though...
Marks and Spencer is actually quite a popular store here in the U.K. Along with other fashion brands like N.E.X.T, TopShop and a few others.
This is actually a really neat little shop thats filled with booze. Well. Top quality wines and stuff. Looks really nice...
On the way towards the Castle of Nottingham. Its where the story of Robin Hood was born! I think its a true life story...
As I approached the Castle...
The steps at the back of the castle...
The Statue of... who else? Robin Hood! He looks kinda stout on the statue right?
And these are his merry folk.
This is the information display about the castle origins and of Robin Hood!
And there were Engraved pictures on the wall depicting the life of Robin Hood...
And this was still the back of the Castle.. With really old gates and stuff...
Going around the Castle, I reached the Entrance of the Castle...
This was taken at the entrance... I didn't go in cause I had to pay 3.50 pounds for it. I didn't have the time then, but shall visit it the next time I come here.
Beautiful eh?
Walking out of the castle entrance, and towards the an Inn. This Inn is the oldest pub they have in Nottingham, its basically since 1189AD. Thats like. 800+ years ago? Ancient...
But I think they renovated it a couple of times since then...
Then there was the Brewhouse Yard. Its a museum as well. If you pay for the entrance to the castle you can get in free... Since I didn't, I just walked around it..
The walls of the Castle... Then again, I think they had to restore the wall...
Then I decided to proceed to BroadMarsh Shopping center since it was nearby...
At BroadMarsh Shopping center, it was dissappointing. A really terrible shopping center. Nothing much here.
So I went out the front entrance of the shopping center, and it was back to the city center where most of the action is at.
This dude was playing the saxaphone.. Is it spelt right? But he was really good at it.
Had lunch at Subway and then proceeded to the Job center to get my National Insurance Number sorted out. Well basically it was quite far away from the City Center. And the view there wasn't really nice, nothing much interesting.
After that was done, I went back out and started to make my way back..
Hey look! Another Tram...
Loads of Shops.. Think if a lady came here to shop, she'd be shopping till she drops.
The Body Shop!
Walking back to the old parliment building, really grand building eh...
More shops...
This was another shopping center called the Exchange Arcade, its basically a high end shopping center.
Out of the shopping center and MORE SHOPS!
There was this dude selling baloons out in the distance... a really big bunch...
This lady apparently does something like english calligraphy, getting some letters and making it into Art...
They actually have little Casinos out along the shopping districts..
And more shops..
Walking to Victoria Shopping center...
Inside the shopping center...
Walking towards the Bus station to take the bus back to Derby..
Oh yea the Taxis are a different colour! Here they are green. In Derby they are yellow!
Inside Victoria Bus Station. Smells quite bad here... The stench of a toilet nearby..
So I got back home at around 2.00pm. And by then I was dead tired from all the walking... But managed to stay online and chat with friends and family! Whoo.
Then dinner was done and basically went to sleeepp..
Thats a crazy number of pictures for today...
